What happens during a counselling session?

Within our first session, we look how we can work together moving forward and if you feel comfortable sharing your story with me. I may take some basic information and together start to explore what has brought you to counselling. You are in safe hands and we will go at your pace talking about what you would like to.

Normally counselling takes place on a weekly basis to give you time to reflect on what was discussed and felt in the session, but not leave it long before the next session. However, holidays and short breaks can affect this continuity, which we can discuss when such breaks arise, we will work as flexible as possible.

I will not ask you to do anything that is not related safely to our session, we will be talking about subjects that can be emotive so often we will be exploring thoughts, feelings and behaviours that can be difficult to talk about, we will work together in your time, we wont rush but we will trust our process together.
